Day 12, July 4,2025
We woke at 0700 to 65° inside the boat. Outside there was sunny blue skies, but no wind.
Temperature: Low 63.7°, high 81.0°, current 66.2°
Humidity: Low 53%, high 74% current 65% it says wet.
Phil woke and did his morning exercises then dozed on the Port sette while I fed the cats. We have about 1 inch of water in the tanks so we need to fill the starboard tank before we leave. We filled it later this morning with all three of us helping. Phil turned down the water, Vicky help hold the hose in the deck fitting, and I watched the water in the tanks and we stopped when we had an inch to spare. No more floaties in the water tank and no more e antifreeze smell either.
Breakfast, while Vicki continued to sleep, was bacon baked in the oven, toast, scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions. It was good. Phil washed the breakfast dishes. I found that the oven stays hot for a while and works well. Our oven thermometer is not working, so we’ll have to get a new one.
The Benneteau 375 first sailboat that’s docked in front of us has five kids. Nine year-old boy 12-year-old twin girls, a 13 to 14 year-old daughter and a boy who’s in college bless their parents. Later the kids were swimming in the yacht club water, which is not good as there can be electrical current that can smoke and kill a person. I checked the weather app for Dunkirk weather at 12 noon it was a nice 73°, dewpoint 51°, humidity 46%, Winds from the north at five mph with sunset at 8:57 PM.
I cleaned the cat fountain and filter. I can’t seem to find the sponge like filters that I’m pretty sure I brought. I’ll have to look more.
Vicki went to the yacht club porch to visit with some transients and was talking with a man that I needed his name for pictures I took. His name is George Burns III. I got his phone number and email. He also gave me the names for other people too. His contribution to the party was a cask of home made bourbon, lemoncello and watermelon wine.

130pm Vicki and I walked to Memorial Park to check out the food vendors for lunch. We really didn’t see anything we wanted so we went to Spike Dailey’s Pub. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with potato salad and chips, which was very good. And Vic ate half of a barbecue pork sandwich and took the other half sandwich and coleslaw back for another meal. We met Phil in the park and listen to the band Party McFly for a while. The girl did most of this singing and she was good. I was tired and went back to the boat and took 30 minute nap and then joined everybody at Dunkirk yacht club for their Fourth of July party. They had the beef on weck but you could get plain buns and leave the horseradish off if that’s what you wanted. Below is a picture of this sandwich. The potluck food was good, of course and the lemon cello and pineapple coconut rum jello shot was good too.

About 5 o’clock I went back to the boat and listen to the second rock band, which was better than the first band. I started knitting on my quilt top again, working on the body ribbing at the bottom. they have a Picot bind off and I was able to get that part done. Next is to finish the sleeves, which I’ll do the picot bind off on. Then wash and block and wear.

About 730pm, the last and best band played until the fireworks ending with the National Anthem. Bill on the saber 42.5 (I learned this is the correct length) was pressure washing his boat. Says that it gets to the bottom of the non slid decks on boats. He has a Ryobi 1760 psi pressure washer that he said is light, cheap and works well. He uses the rotary nozzle. That’s what we need!
Phil and I hung out on the boat while Vicki went with friends to Bart’s Cove bar and other places. She returned in plenty of time for the fireworks that started at 930pm and lasted 30 minutes. Bill and co-owner Pat and I think her grandkids were next door to watch the fireworks and his young friend really got into July 4th,

The fireworks were beautiful especially these waterfall looking fireworks.

We will be going to Buffalo on Saturday to stay 2-3 days. Vicki goes back to Los Angeles on Sunday having to leave to catch her flight at 11am.
