One Pot Spaghetti

I created this recipe on the boat because we wanted to wash fewer dishes when making spaghetti and save water. I wondered if it would work if I added enough water to the spaghetti sauce for absorbing into the noodles like the sauce mixes do, and it did. The trick is to add enough water to plump up the pasta and have enough left over so you have sauce too.

1 jar/can spaghetti sauce or your own recipe
ground beef – I use about 1# fresh per can/jar sauce
1 c water per 2 oz pasta
4 oz pasta (I found that the 2 oz per person recommended on the box is enough for 2 people)
Parmesan Cheese (I like to shake on a lot)

Brown the beef or used from canned ground beef. Add the spaghetti sauce – heat to boiling. Add the water and the broken up spaghetti noodles. Cook for additional number of minutes according to what is recommended for the pasta that you are using.
3 1/2 min for angel hair, 8 min for regular spaghetti noodles, etc. 6-7 min for the multi grain pasta. You should still have enough sauce left – if not add a little more water.

For us, this is enough to serve 4 – good for leftovers.
