Day 4

Phil started working in the battery charger starting with the plug to the 115V outlet. After taking it apart, he found something interesting.

Black wire (load wire) loose

George was right to take apart this plug. Phil fixed this, then had to reconnect the black and white wires to the starter. Then we flipped the switch for the battery charger and hallelujah it turned on.

Working battery charger.

We turned the refrigerator on, then got all the food from the yacht club refrigerator. Lorraine loaded the refrigerator.

Phil started working in the T connectors at the base of the mast to get the data flowing into the instruments. It turns out 2 were screwed into the bulkhead but not close enough to be screwed into each other. Phil fixed that and added a new hole to hold them in place so the connection wasn’t being pulled apart. Now the instruments are working.

So glad these boat have been put to bed for these projects. Phil was feeling stressed and now has been able to relax. After looking at multiple weather sites, we have decided to leave for our next location tomorrow at 6am so that we can arrive before thunderstorms start. We’ll probably get up about 5 am

I think the cats are starting to adjust more to life on a boat. Both Casper and Lucy were eating wet food, but still not to their usual at home.

Love their canned food

Lucy came out of her hidey hole for a little while and Casper is sleeping in the sole in front of the V-berth. This evening I took the cats one at a time into the cockpit and they both went down immediately. I hope that they get more use to being on the boat.

Vicky and I went shopping this afternoon and everything purchased has been put away. Time for a nap.

We had cooked supper of Talapia cooked in the microwave, carrots and onions, fresh green beans and rice with my homemade salsa for supper.

It’s still hot and humid in the mid 80’s. Currently at 8pm it’s 76F with 90% humidity.

Vicky and I took showers then spent time visiting with yacht club friends.

We plan to leave tomorrow morning around 6am for our first destination.

  1. Hello! It was a blast from the past to hear from you. Glad to see you haven’t “buried the anchor”. Janet and I are still cruising seasonally, and keep Lipari in Brunswick, GA.

Will be loads of fun following your progress. Safe travels!
